Some practical tips that will help to make your stay in Tamera more comfortable:
Please, get in contact with us at least 3 days before your arrival. With this we are able to organise the shuttle service to train station and your welcome at Tamera.  This gives us as well the opportunity to inform you about any changes that might have occurred in the meantime.

Things to bring with you: a warm sleeping bag. During the day it can be very hot, whereas the nights tend to be cool and humid. Therefore we recommend to bring adequate clothing for warm and cold days. Between October and May bring rain gear (important!), compact, possibly water resistant shoes.You also need flashlight,diary and pen.

Lodging:
you will sleep in dormitories. From mid-May on it is possible to sleep in tents. You are welcome to bring your own tent and insulation matress
Further important informations:
We kindly ask you to only bring bio-degradable cosmetics which are free of animal testing.
Electric hairdryers cannot be used.
Pets/animals cannot be brought along to Tamera!
Food is sometimes vegetarian, generally vegan.

How to get to Tamera:
By train: 
There are trains from Lisbon and Faro. _Funcheira _ is the closest railway station for Tamera. >From Airport Lisbon: cab or bus to the train station “Oriente” (about 10 minutes). 
>From Airport Faro: hourly bus to the railway station (estação de comboios), allow at least 20 minutes travel time; or by cab, travel time 15 minutes). 
>From the railway station Funcheira it is another 25 kilometres drive. We are glad to pick you up from the railway station at a contribution of EUR 15,- per person. Please ask for it in due time and pay in cash to the driver.

By Car:
From Faro: Drive on the IC 1 or the motorway (toll) towards Lisbon. Leave the motorway at the exit "Ourique" and continue on the IC 1 direction Lisbon. In Ourique turn towards "Cercal". After about 15 km turn left towards Odemira. Go straight on until the traffic light in Relíquias. (Do not follow the sign Relíquias to the right before). At the traffic light turn right and then after a few meters turn left, in the direction São Luís. After about 500 meters turn right into a dirt road (follow the sign "Monte Cerro"). After 4 km turn to the left and you enter Tamera. The road rises onto the dam. For the Guest House turn right, for the Campus turn left, pass the lake and turn right. There is a car park close to the Aula.

From Lisbon: Drive South ("Sul") on the IC 1 or on the motorway (A5 SUL) (toll) direction "Algarve" / "Faro". Leave the motorway at the exit "Grândola", continuing on the IC 1. After about 50 km turn right towards Odemira. Go straight on until the traffic light in Relíquias. (Do not follow the sign Relíquias to the right before). At the traffic light turn right and then after a few meters turn left, in the direction São Luís. After about 500 meters turn right into a dirt road (follow the sign "Monte Cerro"). After 4 km turn to the left and you enter Tamera. The road rises onto the dam. For the Guest House turn right, for the Campus turn left, pass the lake and turn right. There is a car park close to the Aula.
